On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the reopening of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, after the fire suffered in 1994, a hidden treasure has been rehabilitated.

For more than 80 years, the stained glass windows that illustrate one of Wagner's great works in the lobby of the Cercle del Liceu can now be seen from Carrer Sant Pau.

Restoration work on the façade of the Gran Teatre del Liceu has been carried out by the architect Xavier Fabré.

The stained glass windows of the Cercle del Liceu facing Carrer Sant Pau had been covered with wooden shutters since 1930. They could only be seen from inside the Cercle.

The great new development will be the intervention of lighting; in this sense the Bosch Aymerich Foundation has collaborated with the Gran Teatre del Liceu by providing an economic fund for the lighting of stained glass. Depending on the occasion and celebration, the façade of the Liceu will have different colours through the effect of the LED lights.

The project has not yet been developed. Different alternatives are being studied and are expected to be implemented throughout 2021.
